This agreement is between you and Hardbound Studio - F.Z.E (Ajman Free Zone licence 56033), trading as Hardbound Studio. By installing or using Notelocal you accept it.
1. What you get
Notelocal is a private thread between your own devices. You send text, links, photos and files from one of your devices, and your other paired devices pick them up when they meet it on the same local network. Each of your devices keeps its own copy of the thread; a large file stays on the devices that sent or received it, and another device fetches it when you open it there.
Where Notelocal is offered for both Windows and Mac, the two are separate purchases, because the two stores share no licence. Where a phone app is offered, it is free to download from the App Store or Google Play. It is a companion to Notelocal on your computer and does not carry a licence of its own.
2. Your licence
You pay for Notelocal once, at the store that offers it for your computer, and that store holds your licence: from the Microsoft Store it belongs to your Microsoft account, and from the Mac App Store, where Notelocal is offered there, to your Apple ID. There is no licence key, no activation, no account with us and no server of ours involved at any point. Notelocal is not sold anywhere else.
3. Updates
Your purchase includes twelve months of updates to this major version of Notelocal. A future major version is a separate purchase, and buying it is never required: the version you bought keeps working for as long as you have it.
4. Your items
Notelocal has no account and no server of ours. It exchanges items only with the devices you have paired, and it refuses an unpaired or removed device and any address outside your local network. The links between your devices are encrypted, and each end accepts only devices you have paired. Notelocal does not encrypt what it stores on a device: that is your operating system’s disk encryption, if you have turned it on. What you send is stored on your devices.
The text, links, photos and files you send are yours. We claim no right in them.
Notelocal’s window does not use a browser engine, so it does not rely on a web component from another company to draw it. We describe what Notelocal does rather than making a promise about your whole machine, your network or the other software on them.
5. Your devices and what they hold
Everything you send is kept on your own devices, so how safe it is depends on them. You are responsible for backing up the items you want to keep, and for who can use your devices and your local network. Anyone who can open a paired device can read the thread on it.
You choose how long Notelocal keeps items. When you delete an item, each of your devices removes it from the thread as it meets the others; Notelocal does not securely erase the storage underneath. Removing a lost or sold device from your devices stops it receiving anything new, but does not erase what that device already holds. Notelocal is not a backup. Items in transit or held on a device can be lost, for example if a device is lost, reset, switched off or leaves the network part-way through a transfer. Keep another copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
6. What you may not do
You may not redistribute Notelocal as part of another product. There is no licence key to share, because there is no licence key.
Notelocal is built for one person and their own devices. Pairing devices that belong to other people is not something it supports, and we do not promise it will work for that.
7. Refunds
Refunds are handled by the store you bought Notelocal from, under that store’s own policy. Notelocal is sold nowhere else, so there is no separate refund route and the studio offers none of its own.
8. No warranty, and what that means here
Notelocal is provided as is. It moves items between your own devices on a best-effort basis. It is not a backup, it does not promise that any item will arrive, and it is not a substitute for keeping your own copy. We are not liable for the loss, delay, damage or exposure of any item in transit or on any device, for indirect or consequential loss, or for anything that follows from how you look after your devices and network. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Notelocal.
9. Ending it
You may stop using Notelocal at any time. We may end this licence if you redistribute Notelocal against clause 6. Items already on your devices stay where they are and remain yours either way.
10. Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. If you bought Notelocal as a consumer, nothing here affects any rights you have under the mandatory law of your own country.
